Former Zimbabwean captain and cricketing stalwart Heath Streak has passed away at the age of 49. He had been battling cancer for the past few days and was undergoing treatment in South Africa. Streak also served as the bowling coach for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

Streak, who had a significant impact on Zimbabwean cricket, breathed his last after a battle with cancer. He had been receiving treatment in South Africa for some time. Streak, known for his formidable pace bowling, played his last international match in 2005. Several players, including the long-serving fast bowler Henry Olonga, the current captain of the team Sean Williams, and Indian cricketer R Ashwin, expressed their condolences on social media over his demise.
Streak's wife Nadine wrote on Facebook, "In the early hours of this morning, Sunday the 3rd of September 2023, the greatest love of my life and the father of my beautiful children, was carried to be with the Angels from his home where he wished to spend his last days surrounded by his family and closest loved ones,"
Streak's Cricketing Achievements:
Heath Streak represented Zimbabwe in 65 Test matches and 189 One Day Internationals. His performance as an all-rounder was remarkable. In Test cricket, he took 216 wickets with his swift pace. His best figures were 6 wickets for 73 runs, and he claimed five wickets in an innings on seven occasions. He also scored one century and eleven half-centuries, accumulating a total of 1990 runs. His best batting performance in Tests was an unbeaten 127 runs.
In One Day Internationals, Streak took 239 wickets with his lethal bowling. His best figures were 5 wickets for 32 runs. He registered thirteen half-centuries and scored a total of 2943 runs. He made his mark as a versatile and impactful player in both formats of the game.
