Nine Soldiers Die in Ladakh Road Accident One was injured - Indian Army

In Ladakh's Leh district on August 19, where a heartbreaking accident happened , at least Nine Soldiers Die including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), one was injured.

The incident occurred just 7 kilometers short of Kiari town, leaving a somber impact on the region.

The unfortunate incident involved an Indian Army convoy, with a total of 10 soldiers onboard, making their journey from the Karu garrison to Kiari near Leh. The convoy was part of a crucial mission, traveling from Leh to Nyoma.


The Army reported that the vehicle, an ALS (advanced life support) vehicle, was moving along the route when it veered off the road and fell into a gorge in the Valley. The tragic event unfolded around 5:45-6 p.m. IST, near Kiari. In the aftermath, nine soldiers lost their lives, while one was injured in the accident.


This devastating incident highlights the risks that soldiers face while carrying out their duties. The loss of these brave souls is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by our military personnel. As the nation mourns this loss, our thoughts are with the families of the fallen soldiers, and we hope for a swift recovery for the injured soldier.

Condolences on the death of personnel by PM and others minister

In a post on ‘X’, (Twitter) Prime minister Modi said “Pained by the mishap near Leh in which we have lost personnel of the Indian Army. Their rich service to the nation will always be remembered. Condolences to the bereaved families. May those who are injured recover at the earliest".


Home Minister of India , Amit Shah said, "Deeply saddened by the tragic road accident in Ladakh in which we lost our valiant soldiers, as their vehicle fell into a gorge. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. My sincerest condolences to them. May the injured recover at the earliest." he posted on ‘X’.


In a Another post on ‘X’, the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, "Saddened by the loss of Indian Army personnel due to an accident near Leh in Ladakh. We will never forget their exemplary service to our nation. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. The injured personnel have been rushed to the Field Hospital. Praying for their speedy recovery".
