Bangladesh secured a crucial 89-run win in a thrilling encounter between Bangladesh and Afghanistan in the fourth match of the Asia Cup 2023. Bangladesh needed a big win in this match as they had lost against Sri Lanka in their first match.

Bangladesh's batting duo:

Bangladesh's batting duo Mehidy Hasan and Nazmul Hossain Shanto scored centuries, helping their team score a huge total of 334 in 50 overs. Opening the match, Mehidy Hasan batted brilliantly with 112 runs in 119 balls, then got injured, due to which he had to go out without getting out. At the same time, Shanto did a beautiful performance of 104 runs (105 balls). Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan also helped his team finish strongly, scoring 32 not out off 18 balls.


Afganistan's bad Starts:

Chasing the target, Afghanistan's team was given a big blow by Shoriful Islam in the beginning by dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz for just 1 run.

After that Rahmat Shah and Ibrahim Zadran again made a partnership of 78 runs for the second wicket, but their hopes were dashed by Taskin Ahmed when he dismissed Rahmat Shah for 33 runs (57 balls).


Ibrahim Zadran and Hashmatullah Shahidi:

Ibrahim Zadran played a very important innings for Afghanistan, scoring 75 runs in 74 balls, and was eventually caught out by Hasan Mahmood in the 28th over.

Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 51 runs off 60 balls, and was then dismissed by Shoriful.

Afghanistan's innings was eventually ended at 245 runs in 44.3 overs, with Rashid Khan being the last batsman.


Bangladesh bowling attack:

Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam bowled very well for Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed took 4 wickets and Shoriful Islam took 3 wickets.

Hasan Mahmood and Mehidi Hasan took one wicket each.
