Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka, along with Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana, destroyed Bangladesh's batting lineup by taking three wickets each. Bangladesh player Towhid Hridoy played a courageous innings, who scored 82 runs on 97 balls, but Bangladesh did not get much help from its other players, as a result the entire Bangladesh team could score only 236 runs.
At the start of the chase, Bangladesh's openers put together a solid partnership of over 50 runs, but the middle-order collapsed due to Dasun Shanaka's crucial double-wicket breakthrough. Hridoy stabilized the innings by adding 72 runs for the fifth wicket with Mushfiqur Rahim.
Sadeera Samarawickrama played an important role for Sri Lanka by playing a brilliant inning of 93 runs in 72 balls. His performance was crucial in Sri Lanka reaching a big total after losing half their team for only 164 runs. However, for Bangladesh, a double strike from Shoriful Islam brought them back into the game, breaking the 50-plus partnership between Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis. Nissanka scored 40 runs from 60 balls.
The win marks Bangladesh's second consecutive defeat in the Super 4 stage of the tournament. This was a match full of excitement. Sri Lanka's strong performance with both bat and ball gave it a good victory on its home ground.
