The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had recently raided the residence of Jyotipriya Mallick, a minister in the Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal. In a significant development related to the alleged ration distribution scam in West Bengal, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken significant action under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Reports suggest that ED officials raided the residences of minister Jyotipriya Mallick, who is a key figure in the Mamata Banerjee government. It has come to light that the minister's close confidant Bakibar Rehman was also arrested in the same case.


Scam worth crores of rupees exposed:

Serious allegations of ration distribution scam worth crores of rupees have come to light. ED officials are actively conducting searches at various places, including the residence of minister Jyotipriya Malik in Salt Lake, Kolkata, in connection with alleged corruption in the ration distribution system.


Many other apartments were also searched:

ED officials confirmed that the minister was not present at his residence during the raid; However, his phone was seized. The residence and several other apartments of the former personal assistant were also searched. An ED official said, "The minister was not present at the spot during the raid. He arrived later and his phone was taken away. Eight officials are present inside the flat. We are also searching the residence of his former personal assistant."

It is important to note that the Central Investigation Agency had earlier arrested a person with alleged close links with both Trinamool Congress and Minister Mallick in connection with this case.


Arrest of businessman Bakibar Rehman:

Officials have confirmed that the central probe agency has already arrested a person in connection with alleged irregularities in ration distribution in West Bengal. Bakibar Rehman was arrested after a massive search operation by the central agency sleuths at his residence and hotel located in Kaikhali area on the northern outskirts of Kolkata.
